Barbee Family Reunion Minutes October 6, 2013 President Leonard Wiggins, son of Ida Sutton Barbee and Junius I. Wiggins and grandson of Baxter and Ida Battle Barbee welcomed everyone and called the reunion meeting to order at 1:30 PM at the First Christian Church in Richlands, NC, with approximately 90 people in attendance. Blessing Tom Barbee prayed a blessing over the food and family members enjoyed the prepared feast. A special thanks goes to Kevin Barbee for the delicious barbecue he prepared for our meal. Following the meal,
President Lyn continued with the business meeting. Treasurer’s Report Michelle Rowe, granddaughter of William
Lindy and Margaret Burns Barbee, great granddaughter of William Burke and Lucy
L. Huffman Barbee, and great, great granddaughter of William Minter and Susan
F. Jarman talked with the family about the lawn care
of the cemetery. She informed the family that Kevin Barbee has donated his
services for the lawn care at no expense. The balance in the account currently
stands at $619.05. Lyn shared that we may want to clean the headstones in the
future, with the cost around $600. The last time it was done, was 10 years ago. New Business Anne Schout (great granddaughter of Martha Lauria Barbee), Susan Morton Pridgen (granddaughter of Joseph Charles Barbee) and her daughter Caroline Pridgen Orman (Great Granddaughter of Joseph Charles Barbee) would like to be part of a group that jointly combines The Joseph Charles Barbee Family and the Martha Lauria Barbee Family to host the reunion. The combined families are now scheduled to host in 2016. New Officer Martha Barbee Hodnett
thanked President Lyn for many years of wonderful service and asked that we
give him time to enjoy the fellowship of the reunion. Norma Frazier Jeffcoat nominated Tom Barbee and it was seconded. Tom
declined the nomination. Martha nominated Shirley Bryan and it was also
seconded. She agreed and became the new President. Youngest and Oldest The youngest Barbee
present was Catherine Wyatt Orman, age 9 months (great
granddaughter of Euzella Barbee Morton, great great
granddaughter of Joseph Charles Barbee) The oldest present was Catherine Barbee
at age 96, daughter-in-law of Ormand Russel Barbee. Came the Farthest Elmer Ray Barbee,
son of Fred Burke Barbee and great grandson of William Minter Barbee, came from
Box Elder, South Dakota via Queenstown Maryland. Website Ervin Morton spoke

about the Barbees are shared on the website. He
encouraged the family to contact him with additions, corrections, emails, and
family trivia. Memorials Janet Morton Peterson read from Ecclesiastes 3:3, a Time for Everything. A candle was lit and there was a moment of silence for those that had passed since our last gathering. 1. Catherine Grace Barbee Frazier
passed away October 16, 2012. She was the daughter of Cader
and Bessie Barbee, granddaughter of Isiah Grayson and Martha Jane Barbee. 2. Dollie Dianna Baysden Hobbs passed away March 31, 3013. She was the daughter of William Guy and Anna Rebecca Barbee Baysden, granddaughter of Anna Viola and Thomas Ferman Barbee, and great granddaughter of Isiah Grayson and
Martha Jane Barbee. 3. Christina Lynn Banks Torres passed away
January 19, 2013. She was the daughter of Hazel Diane Horne and Gene Banks, granddaughter
of Barbara Jane Barbee and Alvis Horne, great granddaughter of Blanche and
Isiah Grayson Barbee, great great granddaughter of
Ida and Baxter Barbee, and great great great granddaughter of
Isiah Grayson and Martha Jane Barbee 4. Roland Patten passed away July 9, 2013. He
was the youngest son of Lessie and Willie Patten. He
was born in Onslow County on October 26, 1936. He was the husband of Geraldine
Cox Patten, and the son-in-law of Sadie and Garland Cox. 5. Lawrence Patrick Barbee,
"Pat", passed away December 18, 2012. He was the son of Thomas
Linwood Barbee and grandson of Thomas Ferman Barbee.
Donal Barbee, an Eastern North Carolina artist
and fellow Barbee donated a North Carolina seascape to the family to be
